Abstract

Digital distance education system has become a growing form at the higher education sector. In Korea, the Ministry of Education and Human Resources permits the establishment of digital distance universities, as part of lifelong education initiatives, and further tries to extend the scope of those universities. The governmental supports have accelerated distance education systems in terms of quantity: Now it is a high time for more attention to be paid to ®quality'. It definitely needs to study a framework of academic and organizational systems that can embrace the diverse needs of learners, the pedagogical considerations of various technologies, and the various instructional services. The purpose of this study is to suggest a model of academic administration and organization for digital distance universities in Korea, which would serve as a corner stone for early successful establishment and enhancement of educational quality.
