Web Based Japanese Language Learning Environment with Educational Filtering

Internet has come into wide use recently and Web pages have been increasing. We think that many Web pages that relate on a learner's needs. Therefore, we focus on a learning environment where the learner studies Japanese language using Web pages. We propose a framework of WEFS (Web based Educational Filtering system). WEFS filters the Web page focusing on personal learning needs and social learning needs and strategy. In addition, we develop WWW-JUPITER as a prototype system that has a framework of WEFS. We think that our framework, WEFS, is a new approach that integrates an information-filtering model into an educational system. On the other hand, the introduction of WWW-Jupiter in a classroom may reduce a teacher's burden to select the educational material for each learner. The teacher can select a content of the educational material without considering each learner's level.
