Abstract

WISEngineering is an online learning environment that incorporates engineering habits of mind in its design. This free and open-source web-based platform hosts instructional modules which are being used for inquiry-based instruction in middle and high school classrooms. This brief paper will highlight the platform’s potential for teacher professional development as it relates to engineering education in K-12 settings. Included will be an overview of platform creation, capabilities, and the affordances of using engineering design pedagogy for in-service and pre-service teacher professional development.
