This paper reports the results of a pilot study focusing on the use of iPads in a reading class designed for students who were identified by state standardized test scores to be achieving below grade level expectations. Strategies using iPad applications and features were developed to address reading comprehension and fluency, student motivation to read, and student attitude toward reading. Reading assessment results and qualitative observations are reported.
