Abstract
Students who participate in distance teacher preparation and rehabilitation counseling programs are often isolated from their classmates and are unable to engage in simulated teaching and counseling activities otherwise possible in live classroom venues. This poster session will describe the development and use of a multi-user virtual environment called TeacherSim that provides opportunities for distance students to engage in teaching and counseling simulations with teaching faculty and other distance education participants. The protocol for the creation of distance student avatars as well as the use of non-player characters will also be presented.
