Abstract

Mobile learning applications are reaching all society fields, including engineering education. This paper describes the M2Learn open framework devoted to simplify the development of mobile learning applications that make use of context-aware technologies, (e.g. location and movement sensors), services from e-learning platforms, and support for e-learning standards such as LOM and IMS-QTI. Within the experimentation stage of the project, a mobile learning application was developed to integrate virtual labs in a mobile and collaborative learning environment, through the use of LOM. In addition, the application had context-aware features, since it allowed loading different labs automatically depending on the user’s location. This application was developed by students of a Mobile Programming Course with very few lines of codes and effort to show its easiness.
