This presentation will explore a Readers Theatre activity in a Language Arts methods class. Pre-service teachers worked collaboratively using information sources from a local living history museum (Vermilionville) to gather information about inhabitants and historical events from 1755 to the present and designed Readers Theatre scripts. Technology was integrated in several ways: (1) TimeLiner 5.0 was used to create a timeline integrating events from Vermilionville's history and the student's own life; (2) the virtual tour was accessed through the museum's website and provided secondary source information; (3) a digital camera provided photographs for use in the timelines; (4) digital video cameras were used to create iMovie clips for the Readers Theatre performances; (5) timelines were included in end-of-course Writing Portfolios and as part of the electronic portfolios created through College of Education coursework.
