Abstract
The professional development of beginning teachers is necessary for the sustainability of the teaching profession within the context of a reform-based curriculum. The trend in professional development indicates a shift from traditional approaches such as presenter-led workshops, to building communities of practice where teachers work together to embrace educational change. Internet sites have been developed as virtual communities of practice to support different varied societal groups. This paper will describe and analyse sites that have been developed to support beginning teachers.
