Abstract

Mobile learning is seeing a fast adoption with the increasing availability and affordability of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. As the creation and consumption of educational multimedia content on mobile devices is also increasing fast, educators and mobile learning providers are faced with the challenge to adapt multimedia type educational content in order to suit the variety of devices that are used by mobile learners. This paper proposes a solution for multimedia profiling that groups mobile devices in classes based on their resolution in order to allow for the creation of a reduced number of multimedia clip versions. This solution would support educational multimedia visualization on a large set of mobile devices. The paper also makes recommendations for each multimedia profile in terms of audio and video encoding settings. [For the full proceedings see ED557189.]
