
Using Knowledge Grid Construct Next Generation E-learning

Abstract
Recently, increasing researches regard Grid technology as the key technology of next generation Internet. Knowledge Grid (KG) aims at integrating distributed knowledge resources into one virtual, knowledge-based, and high-performed super-computer to provide series of knowledge services. KG is competent for eliminating knowledge isolations to supporting all-around knowledge sharing & innovation. Next generation e-learning should be knowledge-based beyond present information-based status. KG is able to set e-learning into a structured and open knowledge space. In KG environment, e-learning turns to be the connecting process between individual (internal) and external knowledge space. E-learning process itself will be shifted to systematic knowledge management behaviors based on Knowledge Grids operations. This paper will discuss related contexts (Grid Computing, Semantic Web, Ontologies) to KG, and provide an application scenario of a blueprinted KG-based e-learning system.
