Abstract

Abstract: Introducing new tools for teaching needs to have a bottom up approach rather than the reverse. Professors tend to have a resistance trying new tools for their teaching. An E-learning environment is such a tool faculty has been hesitant to work with. Word of mouth from colleagues can make the introduction to a new tool an exciting one. With online environments such as Blackboard, Adelphi University administration was not satisfied with the progress of faculty adopting this flexible teaching tool. The Senior Associate Provost, together with the Faculty Center for Professional Excellence technology department, designed a class for deans. Creating enthusiasm should encourage the adaptation process.
