This study presents a multimedia application that has been designed mainly to assist deaf children in Greece during their early stages of reading but also to assist children who are “poor” readers or do not have Greek as their first language. It is a flexible and easy handle software application according to the Greek Curriculum, children age and needs. This application applied for seven months to twenty children aged between five and six years old where ten of them were deaf and the other ten normal hearing ones. The results have shown that deaf children can improve their performance through time spent on the task and in program repetition and they are able to reach the hearing children reading level if there are auxiliary programs that will assist them during the beginning of their reading process.
