Developing an Instructional Design Tool Based on Teachers' Classroom Practices

Abstract
There has been a vast amount of research conducted concerning how we should organise learning actions in the web. Though we know quite well how we should set up a learning environment for effective virtual education, it seems that teachers tend to plan and use the environments somewhat superficially. Our studies have shown that there is a need for a tool that could help teachers to reflect back on their face-to-face teaching planning process and make it transparent, so that they could effectively apply that knowledge also for the web-based course planning. In this paper, we will outline a tool for teachers for designing web-based courses. In our presentation we will explain the main features and functions of the tool. We will also show evidence how it can help teachers to plan better virtual courses. Final results will be presented, discussed and evaluated in detail in the E-Learn 2003 conference.
