Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify, analyze and describe perceptions of U.S. Army instructors about the importance of instructor competencies to effective training delivery and the difficulty of demonstrating fourteen specific instructor competencies. This study specifically addressed critical incidents relating to the delivery of instruction as military instructors transition to Web-based contemporary operational environments (COE), diagnostic tools and interventions necessary to improve instructor delivery competencies and best practices to successfully improve the performance of novice military instructors. The study used a Likert scale research model centered on the framework of descriptive research. Experienced active duty military instructors were given the opportunity to participate in the study. The results of the study and recommendations for further study are presented.
