CMSS: An interactive construction management simulation system

Research was undertaken to develop an interactive construction management simulation system (CMSS) to help the engineering students gain the real world experience. CMSS consists of a simulation engine and a back-end database. By retrieving construction information from the database, the simulation engine creates an interactive construction environment to the users. During the process of solving problems in this simulated construction environment, the users can gain the experience of driving a project and can practice construction management skills, such as schedule control, cost control, cash flow analysis, and balancing the conflicting tasks. The users will make the decisions under uncertainty and their consequences have to be faced because the future problems they meet could be caused by their previous performance.

The database design and the simulation engine implemented by using object oriented programming technology have been finished in this research.
