This study examined the significant factors that influence high school students' use of the mass media to obtain AIDS information. The researcher employed interviewing, survey, and qualitative analysis to study the relationship between AIDS information and the mass media used by young people in Thailand. A sample of 120 high school students was selected in Thailand during the fall 1997 semester (May through August). The research subjects completed a 26-item questionnaire.
The findings indicated no difference by sex in media use. Most of the high school students obtained their AIDS information from television. The study also demonstrated that health communication is extremely important for people to obtain health knowledge.
