CALLIE: The Ultimate Item Bank Calibration Supporting Tool

CALLIE is an on-going tool that is being constructed at the University of the Basque Country. It is a decision support tool whose purpose is to help in the task of calibrating item banks that are intended to be part of the construction of computerized adaptive testing systems. In this context, the calibration of an item bank consists in determining the values of some parameters that feature the items. CALLIE avoids the barrier of not having knowledge on statistics or psychometrics, minimizing the calibration process so that the only required task consists just in administering the items to a sample of examinees. Moreover, the tool also provides material and software for some other steps of the process. This paper describes a particular process of calibrating items and how CALLIE, whose architecture is also presented, can help in that process.
