Abstract

Technology and social studies is a vast and rapidly changing field. In this paper, we review the trends and innovations within the field, and suggest a path that future research may take. Specifically, this paper describes the evolution of technology and social studies from a field in which the literature described imagined visions of the possible, to small scale studies of teacher educators and K-12 teachers, to the need today to examine technology's effects on student learning.
