Abstract

Lifelong learning in the 21st century can be exemplified with the creation of communities of practice, in which learners gather together in order to achieve common purposes. This paper is a report on the findings of a two-year pilot research at University Rovira i Virgili conducted on teacher training under ICT-based settings with the aim to provide Catalan language teachers with the necessary skills and abilities to successfully integrate technology into their teaching and learning practices. The process shows how from an instructional proposal using web-based technology tools and resources emerged new spaces for communication and new lifelong learning practices that led to the creation of a virtual community of practice
