Abstract
The benefit of computers in collaborative learning has been broadly researched, but it is still unknown what kind of possibilities the pedagogical use of mobile tools and wireless devices can bring to learning. In this paper we will present some results of two evaluation studies of students' conceptions of mobile devices in learning. The aim of the first study (n=715) was to explore university students' conceptions of their needs for mobile tools for scaffolding their learning activities. The aim of the second study (n=147) was to reveal what kind of features students would appreciate in a mobile learning environment for scaffolding their learning activities. The data of these studies were gathered with on-line web questionnaire. Data analysis has been conducted by using the quantitative analyzing methods. The results of these studies will be used for developing and implementing new mobile learning tools, for students and workers in the University of Oulu.
