Abstract

Wireless is a new technology in schools. Numerous articles state the advantages of wireless networking on campus, but few articles analyze wireless technology from the perceptions of teachers and students. In educational settings, teachers and students are the main potential adopters; it is essential to know the perceptions of teachers and students toward wireless laptops and whether or not their perceptions are the result of different experiences with computers and the Internet or of different genders. This study applies Rogers' diffusion of innovation as a theoretical framework to access the perceptions of faculty and students to wireless laptops in the educational settings. Additionally, the study explores the relationship among different experiences with computers and the Internet and how these attitudes vary between genders. This study uses an online questionnaire to collect data. Multiple regression analysis and one-way analysis of variance are used to analyze the data.
