Abstract

This web-based seminar delivery platform allows user to view a video seminar that is synchronized with the slides. The user can navigate through the streaming video via the entries in the Table of Contents and the slide titles on the web page. To produce this type of navigable and synchronized video seminar, a software tool to support the authoring and publication of such web based video seminar delivery was developed. The authoring assistant assists in the creation, indexing, synchronization, and the organization of multimedia objects generated during the capture of a seminar. These multimedia objects include digital video and audio of the seminar, images of PowerPoint slides, titles of the slide presentation, and table of contents. The publication assistant aims to adapt the composition of the delivery over the web to suit user preference, network bandwidth, and terminal capability. The prototypes had received excellent responses from educators, communicators and researchers.
