Abstract

The need for trained professionals to deal with the different areas of primary health care in Brazil urged Federal Government to promote, through the Ministry of Health, an environment for the qualification of these workers. The Open University of Brazilian National Health System - UNASUS - came up with the proposal to hold distance training courses, contributing to an improvement in the health care provided to the population. One of the options offered is the specialization in Family Health, focusing on primary care offered to children in the state of Maranhão. This article will discuss the importance of this training module and its main tool: its Work and Evaluation Plan (WEP), which acts controlling the actions and results obtained during the course.
