Abstract
Importance of social learning has been discussed in many studies. Most teachers and educators agree that effective learning occurs through social interaction. Among various emerging technologies, Wikis have been used as a collaborative tool. In this study, preservice teachers are asked to create Wikis for a class assignment. They research various emerging technologies in groups and create Wikis on the assigned topics. Through their activities they not only learn how to create Wikis collaboratively but also discuss how they can use emerging technologies effectively in their future classrooms. In this study, students use Wikispaces to create their Wikis. After students complete their Wikis they will respond to a survey. They will be asked how they feel about the Wiki technology, including advantages and disadvantages, and also if they use Wikis in their classrooms how they use them to promote students’ learning. The author will present a summary of the results, along with Wikis created by students.
