Abstract
To become effective online instructors, teachers need to develop knowledge and a new set of skills conducive to creating a meaningful and successful learning experience for online students. This study surveyed 36 prospective online instructors on their experiences with technology, online pedagogy, online assessment, and course design skills to identify and prioritize areas for training and professional development. Implications for instructional design and future research were discussed.
